The semi-rigid MTB

A hardtail or semi-rigid MTB is a MTB with a front suspension and a rigid frame. This type of mountain bike is perfect to pedal efficiently and overcome uphills.

Indeed, the front suspension is there to offer a minimum of comfort and stability to the rider and rough terrain and will allow him to be more efficient and at ease on the bike. A semi-rigid MTB will be lighter than a full-suspension MTB and also less expensive. It is very often the first bike that got people into MTB riding, it will teach you that choosing a line correctly is a crucial part of the sport.

The cross-country MTB

You very often come across hardtails for cross-country riding since the sport needs a light bike to have the most efficient pedaling possible. The travel on the fork of cross country bikes usually does not go over 120mm in order to not absorb to much pedalling efficiency. The cross-country MTB will offer the precision of riding and pedaling performance that are the main assets required for this discipline.
